- ABOUT US -

Charley's Angel Shop is in towncenter of the historic cobblestone resort community of Medicine Park - a small community of about 400 people located in southwest Oklahoma.  The majority of  the structures in town are constructed using grapefruit to melon sized granite cobblestone found naturally throughout the local hills.

The town lies peacefully in a valley at the main entry to the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge.  The mountains are truly magical and mystical and filled with folklore and legends. The Wichita Mountains rank among the oldest ranges on earth. Formation of these mountains began some 500 million years ago when the volcanic upheavals began pushing up from the ocean floor. Through the ages, climatic forces have chiseled and sculptured the mountains until all that remain of once lofty escarpments are the weather-reduced knobs, domes and rugged hillsides.Spanish traders once bartered with several Indian tribes for hides and other artifacts  There are legends of lost mines and legends persist of hidden treasures of Spanish gold. The James gang is supposed to have buried bandit loot somewhere among the boulder strewn slopes of the Wichitas and other, less renowned, outlaws supposedly secreted booty in the mountains.  Quanah Parker, last of the Comanche Chieftains, called the Wichita Mountains home and build a large square house with four large stars on the roof near the present refuge - hence the name Star House. Quanah and his mother, Cynthia Ann Parker, a white girl captured by Comanches in Texas, lies buried in a shrine a few miles south of the refuge boundary. Geronimo, famed Apache chief, was imprisoned for many years at nearby Fort Sill. Lone Wolf, Kiowa leader, purportedly is buried in an unmarked grave on the north side of Mount Scott.

A remnant of the days before white settlement, the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge is an island in the sea of modernity and a segment of southwestern history preserved for future generations.

The Angel Shop's proprietor is Charley Wright.  He and wife Ellie and their children lovingly operate the shop which is open each weekend. There are those who believe that at birth, an angel is sent to watch over you ... to guide you ... to help you accomplish what you never thought possible.
Charley is one such person.  He has long held a  fascination with angels and five years ago decided to share that fascination with the community by opening a small angel shop in Medicine Park.

We strive to provide a
